Matt’s producing career is marked by innovation and a commitment to elevating new and under-produced theatrical works. Since founding Black Box’s performing arts centers in 2014, he has spearheaded eight+ seasons of groundbreaking theater on top of 15+ years of impactful educational programs. His productions have featured collaborations with acclaimed writers and celebrated talent, alternating evenings of theater, music, and comedy to offer an ongoing series of dynamic, audience-pleasing performances. Under his leadership, Black Box has become a hub for creative exploration, showcasing works that engage diverse audiences and foster a collaborative artistic environment.
Matt has produced an impressive array of theatrical works that showcase his commitment to both classic and contemporary productions. Notable projects include: Buried Child, Cloud 9, Hair, Bad Jews, Significant Other, Disgraced, How To Transcend A Happy Marriage, Paul Schrader’s The Cleopatra Club, and the NJ premiere of Edward Albee’s The Play About The Baby. His production highlights also feature the ongoing, exclusive From A To Zoo: An Exclusive Staged Reading Series of Edward Albee’s Plays. In recent months, he has also brought music and comedy to Northern, NJ, including residencies from Reeves Gabrels (The Cure/David Bowie) and comedian Elon Gold as well as shows featuring Soulfarm, Distant Cousins, comedian Mark Riccadonna, The Israel Portnoy Band, The Aryeh Kunstler Band, Dog Party, Brea Fournier & Dream Party, Boys Go To Jupiter, and many more.
